Syd is a graphic designer with over 20 years’ experience delivering thoughtful, engaging and meticulously crafted design across cultural, commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

She enjoys translating ideas into clear communication, combining creativity, detail and a considered understanding of how design works in the real world.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins, Syd began her career at Glock, a London-based design agency, developing skills across branding, print, packaging, exhibitions and environmental graphics. Agency life gave her the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and deliver work for organisations ranging from global brands to small charities and cultural institutions.

In 2013 she established her freelance practice after relocating from London to Brighton, building long-standing relationships with agencies, studios and direct clients while continuing to collaborate on projects of every scale.

Alongside her freelance work, Syd was co-founder and director of Gingerline, one of London’s pioneering immersive dining experiences. As creative lead, she established the company’s visual identity and shaped the creative direction of its events, overseeing branding, graphics, editorial content and production to create memorable visitor experiences.

Syd has a keen eye for detail and enjoys the artworking and production stages of a project, ensuring concepts are carried through with precision. She believes successful design should be inclusive and has undertaken specialist training in accessible PDF design, alongside continuing professional development in digital accessibility and motion graphics.

Her portfolio spans museums, arts organisations, charities and commercial clients including The National Archives, Tate Modern, The Design Council, Jeroboams, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Bacardi, Burt’s Bees, MTV and Groupon, covering work from brand identities and publications to exhibitions, campaigns, packaging and immersive environments.

Syd’s work has been published in Creative Review, she has spoken at Tate Modern as part of the Rye Here Rye Now programme, and was selected to attend the RSA’s prestigious RDI Summer School.

Outside design, she is a committed endurance athlete with a passion for marathon running. The focus and resilience required for endurance sport inform her professional practice, bringing curiosity, persistence and enjoyment of problem-solving to her work.
